Factory-Wheel Lug Nut Buying Checks: GM, RAM, Ford and Jeep

For GM, RAM, Ford Super Duty/Transit and Jeep factory-wheel applications, the useful buying questions differ: full vehicle configuration, application-specific length notes, wheel-seat arrangement, or spare and locking hardware. A shared thread size does not make the products interchangeable.

This guide helps you check product listings and prepare the right questions. It is not a compatibility chart or blanket approval for every model named below. Threadstrong’s vehicle fitment information is based on original-equipment (OEM/factory) wheels. Use the vehicle search, read the complete product application, and contact Threadstrong if your wheels, studs or application are uncertain.

Headline “Shared thread. Different checks.” with four vehicle families and their key check: GM, configuration; RAM, length note; Ford HD/Transit, wheel seat; Jeep, contents.
A shared thread size does not make products interchangeable. Each vehicle family has a different key buying question.

Start with the relevant product, not just the thread

The following details were checked on the linked listings on October 28, 2026. They identify the products discussed here and do not replace full fitment confirmation.

Product listing Listed thread / socket Important selection question
GM charcoal black wheel nuts M14x1.5 / 22 mm Does the full model, year and factory-wheel configuration match?
RAM black wheel nuts M14x1.5 / 22 mm How does the listing’s length note apply to this exact wheel application?
Ford F-250/F-350/Transit wheel nuts M14x1.5 / 21 mm Is the required seat the listed flat washer seat, rather than a cone seat?
Jeep black wheel nuts M14x1.5 / 22 mm Which regular, locking and spare-wheel fasteners are included?
Key question by vehicle family. GM: complete vehicle configuration. RAM: assess the length note within the full application. Ford HD/Transit: confirm the required seat. Jeep: check regular, locking and spare contents.
These questions help you read the listings. They are not a compatibility chart.

GM: identify the complete model and wheel configuration

Silverado and Sierra names cover different vehicle configurations. Include the full model designation, such as 1500, 2500 or 3500 where applicable, along with the year, trim and factory-wheel details. For trucks, tell support whether the vehicle has single or dual rear wheels. Do not assume that a match for one configuration establishes a match for another.

For Tahoe, Suburban or another model on the GM listing, use that model’s own application entry. Select the pack and design shown for the product rather than assuming one quantity covers every vehicle in the title. The linked listing describes a charcoal black finish; photographs do not guarantee an exact match to a wheel’s color.

RAM: treat the length note as part of the complete application

The RAM listing includes an existing-wheel-nut length check of 39 mm or shorter. That note must be considered with the full model, year, trim, factory-wheel and other product requirements. One measurement by itself is not sufficient proof of compatibility.

If you are uncertain how the note applies, ask Threadstrong or a qualified installer before ordering. Do not remove wheel fasteners unless you can follow the correct vehicle procedure. For combination sets, verify the number of regular and SECURELOK locking nuts rather than reading only the total price or photograph.

Ford Super Duty and Transit: resolve the seat question first

The linked F-250/F-350/Transit product specifies a flat washer seat and warns that some variations use a cone-seat nut. Confirm the required seat for the exact vehicle and factory wheel before selecting a finish. Matching M14x1.5 threads cannot resolve that difference.

Provide the full vehicle designation, model year and wheel details. Include single- or dual-rear-wheel information where applicable and the exact Transit series or heavy-duty designation. If the current hardware or wheel history is unclear, have the requirements identified rather than choosing by a top-view photo. For F-150 selection, use the separate F-150 buying checklist.

Jeep: count road wheels, spare hardware and locks separately

Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are distinct applications. Start with the exact model, year, trim and wheels, then check the selected option.

A four-wheel set does not automatically include fasteners for a mounted spare. Count that hardware separately and confirm its application. Selected Jeep options combine vehicle and spare hardware, so read the complete contents rather than relying on a customer’s review of a different set.

Regular wheel nuts and SECURELOK locking wheel nuts also need to be counted separately within a combination. A decorative etched design does not make a regular nut a wheel lock. Verify the regular nuts, locking nuts, spare hardware and matching key included in the option you choose.
